We did it. All 10 of the TT Williamsburg ex-Pats got together for the first time since we all settled in Florida. The reunion was held October 11 – 14 hosted by Peter and Julia Coughlin at their home in The Villages. Lots of fun, lots of laughs, lots of memories remembered, lots of drink, and lots of remarkable food. With respect to the food (crabcakes to die for, among others), as we left The Villages the refrain from a song done by the Mamas and the Papas came to mind that goes somewhat like this ” . . . . no one is getting fat ‘cept Mama Cass.”

Besides eating, drinking, and laughing, we lounged by and in the Coughlin pool, the ladies went shopping (of course), the guys explored the growth of The Villages, we ate well at one of The Villages clubs, and we all enjoyed an airboat ride through the Cypresses of Lake Panasoffkee.

Perhaps the highlight (lowlight) of the time together was the introduction of the singing act Fred Biel and the Spazmatics. See the performance on the TT Videos page.

Also, lots of stories. Sande, Sue, and Fred regaled us with the story of the Biel’s and Hawkins’ New England cruise that only permitted touring one of their cruise destinations because of “weather”. But the best part of the cruise story was about the sounding of an alarm on the ship their first night underway. As described by Sande and Sue, confusion resulted in a comedy of errors. Unfortunately, because of lighting conditions or operator error (that would be me), the video made is not suitable for our TT audience.

Photos of our reunion can be found here.

Next up, January of 2023 in Venice, giving Fred more than adequate time to put together (or invent out of ”whole cloth) more stories of the TT Colonial Heritage ex-Pats.
