Chopsticks – How to use
Home Thoughts of a Person with too Much Time on His Hands
Life With Barrie
The Florida Williamsburg ex-Pats may remember when met in Venice at the end of May watching on YouTube the very funny comedian, Fred Klett. His monologue “What Women Know That Men Don’t (see it here) reminded me of some things that I have learned from her over these 59 years:
- Popping a black head by any means possible will not cause cancer and is not painful (not to her anyway)
- Nosehairs are ugly and it is not dangerous to trim them with scissors
- The words “window” and “commando” have different meanings then I thought
- It is impossible for one person to be both Larry the Cable Guy and Sam the Sirius Guy
Silly COVID-19 Thoughts
The one and only thing that I am comfortable with the COVID lockdowns is the ability to wear around the whatever I want, and when Barrie asks me ”what are you up to” I can say ”nothing” and she responds “OK”.
What scares me most about COVID-19 lockdown is that I know that there a ton of tlhings that would like to see and do out there in a COVID-19 free world, but I cannot remember what they are/were.
Other Silly Thoughts
It has just occurred to me that, after 3 1/2 years living in Florida, if we did not receive in the mail advertisements for hearing aids and cremations, we’d get no mail whatsoever. Slow learner, I guess.
Other Factual Thoughts
The recent decision by SCOTUS to overturn Roe v. Wade reminded me of something that I had long ago pushed to the back of my mind. As you know, the author of the Roe v. Wade opinion was Justice Harry Blackman, handed down on February 23, 1973. A former clerk for the Justice, LTJG Jim Knicely, then a JAG officer stationed in Norfolk who was working for me, thought it might be a good idea to invite the Justice to give the annual Law Day presentation to area attorneys and Judge Advocates. The idea was approved (by others way above our paygrades) and the Justice agreed. I was honored and privileged to be sent to Washington to accompany the Justice on a Navy aircraft to and from Norfolk (you can be assured that the subject of Roe v. Wade never was discussed).
I truly believe that I look better in the mirror than in photos.
