It’s another Birthday. Happy Birthday General Funston.
Some readers of this Post are probably saying to themselves, who is this General and who cares. There are a few of us stateside, particularly the TT Gang, who know about the General and his mark upon history. Also, there many Hawaiians who know the legend of the General; plus, those San Franciscans who know their history; and an unknown number of Filipinos. It is not coincidental that the General is a distant relative of this Blogger. Google him here:
The TT ladies held a raucous party at their reunion in Venice recently. Meanwhile, I am going into my third week in Gulf Coast Medical Center with a fractured ankle. Wow! Only four weeks more of hospital confinement, hospital food, and without a Sleep Number. I need not to spell out the cause of the injury. (I’m sure Barrie may have already let the cat out of the barrel). Let me just say, in the words of the late Jimmy Buffet: “Some people claim there’s a woman to blame [b]ut it’s my own damn fault”. Enough about disgruntled me: At least I have a few goodies in this grab bag Post.

A few of you know that in my youth (< 70) I was a huge Neil Diamond fan, and I still enjoy anything he does. Tragically his performances have been curtailed by Parkinson’s Dimentia. A musical entitled “A Beautiful Noise” honoring Diamond and his music premiered at the Emerson theater in Boston in June 2022, and then opened in NYC in December 2022 and has played to “sold out” audiences since. Apparently a world tour of the musical will be announced in late 2024. Neil Diamond attended the premier, and the following clip showing the closing of the new musical is moving.
